Locate Productions

A renewed digital home and refreshed brand for a production company with global presence.
In a world where imagery is increasingly influential, it’s important that your communications create maximum visual impact. A full-service production agency that helps brands, directors and photographers answer this challenge by managing access to stunning shoot locations and backdrops across the world. Often incorrectly pigeon-holed as only a location library, the growing company was keen to refresh its brand identity and website to better reflect its broader offering and sustainable ethos.
While project outcomes were always geared towards a website redesign and brand refresh, the door of the brief was left deliberately open by Locate Productions. The initial discovery phase was therefore crucial to uncover key considerations and refine the objectives. Yoyo guided this process, workshopping questions around how the brand needed to change and where it needed to remain consistent to align itself correctly in the eyes of target audiences.

Bringing the true Locate Productions brand into focus.
The challenge
A cleaner, clearer digital representation of the agency’s full-service offering and market-leading status.
On agreement of the website structure and brand direction, the project moved into design and build, tapping into Yoyo’s wealth of Umbraco expertise. The urgent delivery timeframe led to the adoption of a phased approach, with Yoyo leading the technical implementation in concert with the in-house technical resource to meet the deadline. The end result equipped the client team with a variety of page templates and components to give them the flexibility to manage ongoing site updates.

The approach
As a registered charity with limited resource, The Kew Guild required support with initial content creation as well as the means to easily manage ongoing updates. By dovetailing copywriting into the latter stages of the design process, helping the Guild crystallise and communicate key messages and member benefits. In addition, by building the site on Umbraco, the Guild was provided with a user-friendly content management platform with the flexibility to accommodate future developments in functionality.

A phased approach that focused on the future.
Yoyo’s integrated approach guided the development of the site smoothly from planning to design, build, content population, test and staged launch.
Throughout this phased process, there was close liaison with Kew Guild trustee Maxine Briggs, the client-side project lead, whose contribution was invaluable to the project’s success. The collective result is a site that, through its creative direction and user experience, delivers on an ambition of staying true to the Guild’s origins while also putting the organisation on a new digital path to be embraced by current and prospective members alike.

It was great to be a part of such an important step in Locate's journey - pushing their brand and digital presence to demonstrate their full-service production and location offerings, their global connections, and to showcase their amazing work.
